HANOI, Sept 23 Asia Pulse - Vietnam's earnings from wooden furniture exports in the first nine months of this year has exceeded US$1 billion and keeps growing strongly, said the Vietnam Wood and Forest Produce Association (VWFPA).
Vietnam's wooden furniture has been exported to more than 120 countries and territories, many of which are great markets such as the United States, Japan and the European Union.

Vietnam ranks fourth among the exporters of furniture to Japan and its 2005 total export earnings are expected to reach US$175 million - a 16 per cent year-on-year rise.
As a result, wooden furniture takes the third position after crude oil and rice, in terms of export turnover growth with a yearly increase of 57.5 per cent during the past two years. The staple is expected to bring home more than US$1.5 billion this year, surpassing the target set by the Government.
Among wooden products of high export value, interior furniture for bedrooms accounted for 28.8 per cent of the target, which is followed by furniture for sitting rooms 22.7 per cent, office furniture 12.6 per cent.
